Ron Wilson, director of the Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development at Kansas State University, says the Tipton Times grew out of a newsletter Fred Smith designed to keep donors who supported the creation of an independent school informed. However, for those living in Tipton – and abroad – there’s a quarterly newspaper that goes from the town of 193 people to approximately 1700 subscribers. With fewer small town newspapers, that can be difficult.
THE TIPTON TIMES NEWSPAPER – It’s a natural curiosity for people who have moved away from a community to still want information about what’s going on.
